The Difference Between Savory Oatmeal and Congee (And Why We Love Both)

Two Bowls, One Idea

Congee has fed families across Asia for centuries. Our savory oatmeal draws on the same idea: grain, broth, and real protein instead of sugar.

The two bowls are not identical. Here is how they differ, and why both belong in your kitchen.

The Grain

Congee starts with rice, simmered for hours until it breaks down into a thick porridge. Savory Oatmeal starts with whole-grain oats, which cook in minutes, not hours.

The Protein

Congee toppings vary by region and household: shredded chicken, century egg, pork, or dried scallops. Savory Oatmeal builds the protein into the base itself: real chicken, steak, or bacon in every pouch.

The Time

A pot of congee often simmers for two or three hours. A pouch of Savory Oatmeal cooks in under three minutes. We built our product for a weekday morning, not a weekend project.

Try Both

If you have a free weekend, make a pot of congee from scratch and top it with whatever your family prefers. On a Tuesday morning, reach for a pouch of Savory Oatmeal instead.
